Incident Summary – Sunday Nightshift, 11th May 2025

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred. 

 

Time:  19:06   Location: Scarborough

Both crews from Scarborough responded to reports of a oven fire inside a residential property. After inspection, no fire was found but there was some smoke logging caused by burnt food inside a oven. Crews naturally ventilated the property and removed the burnt food. Advice was given to the occupant.

Time: 20:12    Location: A1(M), Northbound

A crew from Richmond responded to a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A1 Motorway. One vehicle was stuck inside some woodland on the side of the road. All drivers and passengers were out prior to fire crews arrival and in the hands of ambulance and police. Crews isolated the vehicle in the woodland and assisted police with scene safety. All casualties were taken to hospital via road with non life threatening injuries.

Time: 20:41    Location: Northallerton

Both crews from Northallerton responded to concerns of an overheating battery from a caravan. Crews carried out a thermal scan of the battery which had been disconnected prior to their arrival and left it inside a bucket of water under the supervision of the responsible person. Advice given for correct disposal.

Time: 20:42    Location: Selby

Both crews from Selby responded to a fire in some woods measuring approximately 10 metres by 8 metres. Crews extinguished the fire using main jets. The cause of the fire was believed to be had been deliberate.

Time:  00:05   Location: Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to a small fire in a public area. Crews extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet. The cause was believed to had been deliberate.

Time: 02:33    Location: Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate assisted ambulance with the difficult extrication of a person from their property into the road ambulance outside. Crew power used only.

Time:  05:40   Location: Acomb

A crew from Acomb assisted police who came across a young deer which became stuck between metal railings. Crews used edraulic spreaders and a salvage sheet to widen the railings and remove the deer safely. The deer then ran away at its own accord, uninjured.

Time:  06:48   Location: Selby

A crew from Selby responded to an occupant who had fallen in their garden and all family members present were unable to lift them inside. Crews attended and moved the casualty to a safe location inside their property using crew power. The casualty was left in the care of family members awaiting the arrival of ambulance crews.

Crews from Harrogate, Scarborough and Helmsley also responded to activated fire alarms. After inspection, these were all confirmed as false alarms.
