Incident summary for 8 June, 2025 – Day shift

Time: 08:05 Location: Goathland
Fire service First Responders were mobilised by Ambulance to assist, initially, with an elderly female with breathing difficulties.
Time: 09:52 Location: Scarborough
A Scarborough crew responded to 2 children stuck inside a lift. Override keys located and children left in care of parents.
Time: 13:16 Location: Throxenby
A Scarborough crew responded to a report of picnic benches being set alight. On arrival this was found to be controlled burning. Advice given.
Time: 13:42 Location: Askham Lane, York
Acomb and York crews responded to smoke sighted in woodland with a repeat caller – a passing motorist then stating there was a dark coloured Vauxhall Zafira on fire with the driver still inside. On Fire and Police arrival, no vehicle found with the smoke sourced to two tree stumps on fire which had been set alight. Extinguished using a hose reel.

Ring removed from a female using ring cutters after she called in at station.
Time: 15:44 Location: Strensall
York crew responded to a small patch of grassland on common smouldering.
Time: 15:56 Location: Woodland Ravine, Scarborough
Scarborough fire crew used buckets of water to extinguish a small fire left unattended.
There were also fire alarm activations responded to in: Glusburn and Weeton. Both proved false alarms.
