Incident Summary – Saturday Night shift, 7th June 2025

Time: 18:16  Location: Acomb

York crew mobilised to a fire in the open left unattended in an open area. Crews extinguished the fire using a bucket of water. The cause of the fire is believed to be had been deliberate.

Time: 20:16   Location: Selby

Selby mobilised to a person who had trapped their fingers in a golf trolley mechanism. The casualty had managed to free their fingers prior to the fire crews arrival and advice was given for the casualty to attend hospital for further medical advice.

Time: 21:14  Location: Catterick Garrison

Crews from Colburn, Richmond and Ripon with their Incident Support Unit were mobilised to reports of a vehicle which had impacted a building. Upon arrival they found a transit van had collided with the front of a residential property and entered through the front living room bay window. The family of 4 who live in the house were upstairs at the time of impact. No persons from property were injured and the driver of the vehicle suffered only minor cuts and bruises. They were left in hands of police. Fire crews isolated the utilities to the property using small tools and used a salvage sheet to cover the front of the house.

Time: 21:34  Location: Hornbeam Park Avenue, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate attended fields in the vicinity and found a number of persons had been setting fire to toilet rolls. The fires were out upon our arrival and crews inspected.

Time: 21:46  Location: Muston Road, Filey

Filey crew attended a bin on fire which had been started accidentally due to a dropped cigarette. They used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Time: 21:47  Location: Wharram Le Street, Malton

Malton crew attended a fire in the open that one of our off duty fire fighters came across. The fire appeared to consist of tyres and pallets. The crew used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire which is thought to have started deliberately.

Time: 01:16   Location: A19, Escrick

York and Acomb crews were requested to attend a 2 vehicle road traffic collision involving a VW Golf and a Volvo. Upon arrival all persons were out of vehicles and in hands of police. No action was taken by the fire service and it is unknown if any persons were injured.

Time: 01:46  Location: Acomb

Acomb responded to a vehicle fire which was out prior to their arrival after it had failed to spread. Crews inspected the vehicle with a thermal imaging camera to check for any further fire spread. The interior of the vehicle was only partially damaged and the incident was left with the owner to liaise with police and investigate further.

Time: 03:20  Location: Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate assisted ambulance with gaining entry to a property so that they could complete a welfare check on the occupant inside. Crews woke the occupant by pitching a triple exterior ladder. The occupant then allowed ambulance crews access. The incident was left with ambulance crews.

 

Crews from Acomb (x2), Harrogate (x3), York and Reeth also responded to activated fire alarms inside commercial and residential buildings. After inspection, these were all confirmed as false alarms.
