Incident Summary – Tuesday 10th June Night Shift

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

17:56 – Crosby Road, Northallerton

The crew from Northallerton attended reports of a cigarette bin on fire. The cigarette bin was issuing smoke when the crew arrived. They used a hose reel jet to douse the bin and extinguish the fire. The cause was believed to be a cigarette not fully extinguished.

18:24 – Longwestgate, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough attended a location where it was believed a fire had been started deliberately. Crews used small tools to access a premises and found the fire to be out. Police were also in attendance at this incident.

18:54 – Danebury Drive, York

A crew from Acomb responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at a residential premises. This was a false alarm caused by cooking fumes.

20:00 – Thirsk

A crew from Thirsk responded to reports of a fire in the rear garden of a property. The fire affected fencing, decking and a pergola, and also threatened a nearby garage. Crews used 2 hose reel jets to mitigate the spread of the fire and bring it under control. They then extinguished the fire and dampened down the area. The cause was accidental.

20:47 – Valley Drive, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate attended a report of a bench smouldering in a public area. The crew used a hose reel jet to dampen the bench and extinguish the embers. The cause of ignition is believed to have been deliberate.

21:17 – Grange Lane, Acomb

A crew from Acomb responded to a report of a fire in woodland near a play area. Crews extinguished the fire using knapsack sprayers and liaised with Police on scene. The cause of the fire was believed to have been deliberate with people seen fleeing the scene. The incident was then left with the Police.

23:04 – Columbus Ravine, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough assisted Ambulance with the difficult extrication of a casualty from a premises. They used crew power to assist with carrying the person into a waiting road ambulance where they were then transported to hospital.

01:45 – Thistle Hill, Knaresborough

A crew from Harrogate investigated a report of a power line causing tree branches to smoulder. Fire crew plotted location and Northern Powergrid requested to remedy the situation.
