Incident Summary – Saturday 14th June Day Shift
To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.
07:02 – Settle
A crew from Bentham responded to an automatic fire alarm activation within a residential premises. Crews carried out a full inspection of the building and found no signs of smoke or fire. The cause of the activation was believed to have been caused by a fault on the system.
07:33 – Walden Stubbs
Crews from Selby and a South Yorkshire’s Askern appliance attended a small fire in the open consisting of a discarded tractor tyre. The crew from Askern used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area.
12:01 – Low Marishes, Pickering
Crews from Malton assisted with rescuing a senior dog who had become stuck in slow moving water. They used two swift water rescue dry suits and personal floatation devices to wade out and rescue the dog, who was then reunited with its owner and taken back home.
12:57 – Kirkbymoorside
A crew from Helmsley responded to a fire alarm activation within a domestic premises. The cause was due to smoke issuing from a microwave due to burnt cooking. The crew removed the microwave to a safe location outside and assisted with naturally ventilating the property.
13:21 – Harrogate
A crew from Harrogate assisted with lifting a person who had fallen within their home. They used crew power to lift the person into bed and left them in the care of a relative.
14:04 – Gargrave Road, Skipton
The crew from Skipton assisted a person who had collapsed at an event. They administered oxygen until an ambulance arrived and took over the care of the person.
14:31 – Flowergate, Whitby
Crews from Whitby and the aerial ladder platform from Scarborough assisted with rescuing two herring gull chicks that were trapped in netting. The chicks were then passed to the care of a volunteer from the Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary.
