Incident Summary – Night Shift – Tuesday 14th October
Time: 17.57 Location: Corlett Court, York
Crews from Acomb and York responded to reports of a burning smell. Upon arrival it was a control burn of garden rubbish in a brazier. Advice was given to occupant and the responsible person of the fire.
Time: 18.17 Location: Sherburn Willows Nature Reserve
Tadcaster crew attended a fire in the open, approximately 5 x 5 metres and used wildfire tools and a knapsack sprayer to extinguish.
Time: 18.17 Location: Sutton Road, Thirsk
A crew from Thirsk attended a fire in the engine compartment of a transit van, cause believed to be a frozen alternator and a belt that continued spinning causing it to overheat and catch fire. The fire was out on arrival but crews used one hose reel jet to cool the engine compartment to 25 degrees.
Time: 19.41 Location: Bishopthorpe, York
Crews from Acomb attended a request from police to assist one female and two children locked in a bedroom after the mechanism on the door handle had failed. Crews used no equipment to gain entry.
Time: 20.01 Location: Fourth Avenue, York
York crew attended one small fire down the side of a garage and used one hose reel jet and small tools to extinguish it. Crews checked inside the garage using a thermal imaging camera and some burnt fence panels have been removed. Cause believed to be deliberate.
Time: 23.25 Location: Knaresborough Road, Bishop Monkton
A crew from Ripon responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision, upon arrival all persons were out of the vehicle and left with the police. No fire service intervention was required.
Time: 04.40 Location: Romanby, Northallerton
Northallerton crew responded to a request from Police to gain entry to a property due to concerns for the occupant inside. Crews gained entry to the property for the Police, who found the occupant safe and well inside.
Time: 06.18 Location: South View Lane, Layburn
A crew from Layburn responded to a report of a person who had fallen and the person with them was unable to lift them. Crews used crew power to lift the person to a place of safety.
Crews from Harrogate (x2) and York (x2) attended automatic fire alarm activations. These were found to be false alarms.
