Incident Summary – Thursday 9th July – Day Shift

Time: 09:21  Location: Dove Way, Kirkbymoorside

Crews from Thirsk, Kirkbymoorside and Scarborough were mobilised to a fire at an industrial premises. Crews used 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets and 2 thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire. The cause believed to have been an air compressor that caught fire. All persons within the building were accounted for.

Time: 09:32  Location: Bishopdyke Road, Sherburn in Elmet

Crews from Tadcaster, Selby and Acomb were mobilised to a person trapped at a industrial premises. Crews assisted Ambulance with releasing the patient using crew power and getting them to safety.

Time: 09:41  Location: Moor Lane, York

York crew were mobilised to a small fire in the open, this was a rubbish fire that had been left unattended. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish.

Time: 10:02  Location: Whitby Road, Pickering

A crew from Helmsley responded to a ring stuck on a persons finger that needed to be removed. Crews used a ring cutter to remove.

Time:10:57  Location: A1 S 

Crew from Ripon attended reports of smoke seen to the side of the motorway. Crews carried out a thorough area search and put this down as a false alarm caused by dust from a combine harvester.

Time: 10:59  Location: Filey Road, Scarborough

Scarborough crew were mobilised to an automatic fire alarm, this was confirmed to be a false alarm caused by a faulty detector.

Time: 11:05 Location: Aire Valley Drive, Low Bradley 

Crew from Skipton were mobilised to an automatic fire alarm, this was confirmed to be a false alarm caused by a faulty detector.

Time:12:06   Location: Sawdon, Scarborough 

Lythe crew whilst responding to another incident, located an unattended camp fire measuring 2m x 2m. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Time: 13:08  Location: Chop Gate

Crews from Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside, Tadcaster and over the border appliance Coulby Newham were mobilised to a report of a fire on the moor.

Time: 13:38  Location: Leeds Road, Tadcaster

Crew from Acomb were mobilised to an automatic fire alarm, this was confirmed to be a false alarm caused by a faulty detector.

Time: 14:01 Location: Broughton Road, Malton

Crews from Malton (x2), York, Harrogate, Sherburn, Robin Hoods Bay and Selby were mobilised to a standing crop fire. The fire spread to a further 3 fields due to extreme heat and winds. Local farmers assisted with water and cutting the field to try prevent further fire spread. **This incident is still ongoing at time of publish**

Crews are carrying out a revisit on the morning of the 10th July.

 

Time: 14:23   Location: Shortbank Road, Skipton

Crew from Skipton and over the border appliance Earby responded to a report of a one vehicle road traffic collision with persons trapped and the vehicle smoking. Crews used a hose reel jet a thermal imaging camera to extinguish. The casualties was out on arrival, crews assisted ambulance crews and the casualties were taken to hospital.

Time: 14:32 Location: Malton Road, Swinton

Crew from Acomb, Selby and Robin Hoods Bay responded to a combine harvester smoking. Crews used a thermal imaging camera and confirmed no fire. Vehicle was left with the vehicle owner.

Time: 14:45  Location: Princess Road, Malton

Acomb and Knaresborough responded to an automatic fire alarm, this was confirmed to be a false alarm caused by excessive heat.

Time: 15:03  Location: Stokesley 

Stokesley crew attended a report of a hay bale stuck on a power line and caught fire. The fire was out on crews arrival

Time: 15:40  Location: Hovingham

Crews from Acomb, Thirsk, Huntington and Pickering responded to reports of a tractor and a field on fire. On arrival crews found a field measuring 100 x 80 metres alight. Crew worked with the farmer to create fire breaks and extinguished using 1 hose reel jet, knapsack sprayers and beaters.

Time: 15:50  Location: Ripon

Crew fromHarrogate and Ripon responded to reports of a gas cyliner venting off. This was found to be caused by an in-built release system designed to vent the cylinder when it over heats. No action required.

Time: 16:50  Location: A1 Northbound Wetherby to Allerton Park

Crews from Ripon attended a fire to gras verge measuring 3 x 10 metres. Crew extinguished using 1 hose reel jet.

Time: 17:02 Location: Harrogate

Crew from Summerbridge attended reports of a 3 vehicle road traffic collision. On arrival all occupants were out of their vehicles. Scene safety only carried out.

Time: 17:39  Location: Kelfield

Crews from Selby and Snaith responded to reports of a fire to a derelict building. On arrival there was no fire to the building but a fire at the back to general waste. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately. Crews used 2 hose reel jets and 2 thermal imaging cameras to extinguish fire measuring approx 20 x 20 metres. The fire also caused slight damage to the facia at the rear of the building.
