Incident Summary 4 March Night Shift

5th March 2021

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

16:54 Main Street, Healaugh

A crew attended a chimney fire in a property which was well alight within the chimney stack on their arrival. Crews removed the chimney pot and some sections of the chimney stack and used a hose reel jet, ladders and hearth kit. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of soot. A revisit will be carried out this morning

17:40 Main Road, Weaverthorpe

A crew from Malton attended a chimney fire which was believed to be out on their arrival. The crew carried out a scan using thermal imaging camera and detected hotspots in the chimney stack. They used chimney nozzle and working at height gear. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of soot.

19:01 Cross Lane, Sinnington

Crews from Kirkybymoorside and Pickering attended an incident involving a wood agricultural building which had been deliberately set alight by the owner to destroy it. Crews worked to protect surrounding hedgelines and buildings to prevent the fire spreading. They used 45mm jet, two hose reels jets, one of the fre engines to shuttle water and ceiling hooks.

20:13 Queen Street, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough attened a fire to household waste at the rear of a property. They used a hose reel jet to put the fire out

20:35 Filey

A crew assisted police gain entry to a property where an elderly person had fallen from bed. The crew reassured the person until the arrival of an ambulance.

20:42 Wayside Crescent, Harrogate

A Harrogate crew attended reports of a fire on a building site. On crew's arrival the fire was out, but they found a 9l petrol container which they believed is what the fire was in. The cause is believed to be deliberate 

20:55 Richmondshire Walk, Caterrick Garrison

Crews from Colburn and Richmond attended reports of a small fire in the open. This was a fire in a bin, believed to have been caused by a dropped light. A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire.

23:00 York

A crew were requested to assist ambulance crews gain entry to a property

23:40 Follifoot

A crew from Harrogate were requested to assist ambulance crews gain entry to a vehicle. On the fire crew's arrival the police were also in atendance and entry had been gained to the vehicle. No action required by fire service.
