Incident Summary 20th Jan Day Shift

09:03 Front Street, York

Crews attended an incident involving an industrial boiler that was smoking. Crews allowed the smoke to ventilate natually and isolated and inspected the boiler. They gave advice for the boiler  to be checked by an engineer.

10:20 Skipton- false alarm

11:15 School Lane, Long Preston, Skipton

A crew attended reports of flood water close to properties and causing damage to the carriageway. Crews unblocked the drain and used sand bags to divert water away from properties. 

13:10 A684 Morton on Swale

Crews attended a road traffic collision between a lorry and a car. The occupiers of both vehicles were out of the vehicles on the arrival of fire crews who provided oxygen to one of the drivers. No other action was taken by fire crews. 

13:27 New Row, Kirby Wiske

A crew attended an incident involving a delivery driver stuck in a van in flood water. The crew released the van and driver from the water. Crews used strops and deshackle to tow the van out of the water

13:52 Brayton, Selby

Crews attended a smell of burning within a property. Crews gained entry to a ground floor flat and found smoke coming from the oven due to a pizza being left unattended in it. The pizza was destroyed and there was light smoke damage to the flat. The fire was out on the arrival of crews who used a positive pressure ventilation fan and a thermal imaging camera.

A crew released a person trapped in a lift.

Crews attended reports of a person stuck in a vehicle in floodwater. Crews removed the driver and walked them to a place of safety.

15:55 Grinton- false alarm

16:06 Bailey Court, Northallerton

A crew attended concerns of flood water getting close to property. Advice given only, no action taken by crews.

16:18 Seamer- incident on-going

An officer is an attendance at an incident where flood water from a field is at risk of entering a property. The officer has requested that a fire engine attends. A fire crew is using a light portable pump and a ground monitor to try and divert water away from the property.

16:21 Long Lane, Picton- incident on-going

A crew is in attendance at an incident involving floodwater in a cellar of a property. They are currently using a light portable pump to remove the water.
