Incident summary for Dayshift 6 August 2018

Incident Summary - Day Shift,  Monday 6th  August 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Crews from around the county have attended a number of automatic fire alarms today. Thankfully all of these have been false alarms.

A19 Northbound near the Exelby Services, Ingleby Arncliffe.

Time of call: 07:22 

Northallerton and Thirsk crews responded to multiple 999 calls stating a car was well alight on the A19. Firecrews extinguished a Toyota Avensis which had been extensively fire damaged, by use of a hosereel, after a blown turbo is believed to have started the fire.

Starbeck, Harrogate

Time of call: 09:29

A crew from Harrogate responded to a request from the owner of x2 dogs who had stood on car keys within her car locking them in and her out. As the temperature was starting to increase, firecrew attended, broke the smallest window, and released the hounds. 

Woods, near Egton, Whitby

Time of call: 12:27

A crew from Whitby responded to a report of a small fire in woodland near Egton. Firefighters made their way on foot for some distance to the site of a believed campfire which had not been completely extinguished, and used a backpack sprayer to dampen the area effected: approximately 1 square metre.

Off Monkton Road, York

Time of call: 13:56

A crew from York responded to a report of a patch of smoking grassland. On attendance, crews discovered a small fire which had gone out or been extinguished. Inspection only.


Time of call: 13:59

Crews from Northallerton and Thirsk attended a baler on fire in a stubble field also setting alight approximately 200sqm of the field. Crews used 4 hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish the fire which caused extensive fire damage to the baler following a bale which became stuck and then caught fire.
