Incident Summary - Night Shift - 27th March 2020

Incident Summary Night Shift Friday27th March 2020 

 

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred: 

 

 

Time: 18:33 

Location : Kirbymisperton 

A crew from Pickering were mobilised to reports of a hay bales on fire. On arrival crews confirmed this was controlled burning under supervision. Crews dampened down the surrounding perimeter of the fire to prevent any possible fire spread and gave advice to the farmer.  

 

Time: 18:55 

Location : Settle 

Settle responded to reports of smoke sighted in a construction area. On arrival crews confirmed this was controlled burning under supervision. Crews gave advice to the owner who was in attendance. 

 

Time: 19:03 

Location : Ripon Road, Harrogate 

An appliance from Harrogate extinguished 2 small seats of fire to scrubland. Crews used 1 hose reel jet and 1 bucket of water at this incident. The cause of the fire was deliberate. 

 

Time: 19:56 

Location : Farnley 

Skipton were mobilised to reports of a large fire on a hillside. After a thorough search of the area, this was believed to be street lighting mistaken for a fire. 

 

Time: 20:06 

Location : Sessay 

Thirsk extinguished a chimney fire at a domestic property. The fire was confined to the chimney and extinguished using a chimney kit, hose reel, short extension ladder, roof ladder and thermal imaging camera. Crews also gave advice to the owner. The cause of the fire was due to an accumulation of soot. 

 

Time: 20:07 

Location : Helmsley 

Helmsley were mobilised to reports of a fire. After searching of the area, crews believe to be nearby factory lighting was mistaken for a fire. 

 

Time: 00:22 

Location : New Earswick, York 

Huntington were mobilised to reports of a large fire in a garden. Once in attendance, crews confirmed this was controlled burning under supervision. Crews left the incident with Police who were in attendance. 

 

 

Time: 01:39 

Location : Crosby Road, Northallerton 

2 appliances from Northallerton attended a fire involving a small brick built shed containing a petrol lawnmower. The fire caused 100% damage to the lawnmower, crews extinguished the fire used 1 hose reel jet and small tools. The cause of the fire was accidental.  

 

 

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service attended automatic fire alarms in York, Whitby, Harrogate and Scarborough – all were false alarms.
