Incident Summary –Night Shift –Saturday 20th April

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred:

South Milford

Time of call: 1735

A crew from Tadcaster extinguished 5m of garden hedge on fire. Crews used 1 hose reel jet at this incident and the cause of the fire was accidental.

North Street, Ripon

Time of call: 1837

Ripon extinguished controlled burning in an oil drum that was left unattended next to a pile of cardboard. Crews used 1 hose reel jet at this incident.

Osmotherley

Time of call: 1916

Stokesley assisted with a VW Gold that was leaking oil across both lanes of a carriageway. Crews used an environmental pack to clean up 6sqm of engine oil and then handed the incident over to the highways department.

Askham Lane, York

Time of call: 1937

Acomb extinguished a small fire in the open using 1 backpack sprayers and bucket of water. The cause of the fire is believed deliberate.

Fairways Avenue, Harrogate

Time of call: 1947

A crew from Harrogate extinguished a fire involving 9m of garden fence, 1 conifer bush and approx 2sqm of woodland. The cause of the fire was accidental caused by fire spread from controlled burning. Crews used 1 hose reel jet at this incident.

Tunstall

Time of call: 2010

Bedale extinguished controlled burning measuring 4m x 4m left unattended using 1 hose reel jet.

Wetherby Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 2010

Harrogate attended an automatic fire alarm at a residential address, this was a false alarm caused by cooking fumes.

Richmond

Time of call: 2022

Crews from Richmond, Leyburn and Reeth attended a domestic house fire. Fire originated in the lounge of the property and caused fire damage to approx 1sqm of carpet and heavy smoke logging. A male in his 80s was rescued by a neighbor from the property and suffered minor burns to his legs with both casualties also taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation. Crews extinguished the fire using 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, thermal imaging camera. The property was then ventilated using a positive pressure ventilation fan. The cause of the fire was accidental.

Beningbrough

Time of call: 2047

Acomb extinguished controlled burning measuring 2m x 2m left unattended using 1 hose reel jet and pitch forks.

Maple Grove, York

Time of call: 2053

York extinguished a disposable BBQ left unattended using 1 bucket of water.

Grey Hill Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 2056

Harrogate extinguished a fire involving 5 sqm of garden hedging and trees. The cause of the fire was accidental and extinguished using 1 hose reel jet and flood lights.

Richmond

Time of call: 2108

Leyburn extinguished a small fire measuring 1sqm in woodlands using buckets of water, the cause of the fire is unknown.

Northallerton

Time of call: 2116

Northallerton attended a camp fire in a field left unattended, the fire was out on arrival and the crew carried out an inspection only.

Elvington, York

Time of call: 2118

York extinguished a rubbish fire measuring approx 5sqm left unattended using 1 hose reel jet.

Boroughbridge

Time of call: 2119

Knaresborough and Harrogate were mobilised to reports of a building on fire, this turned out to be a false alarm caused by controlled burning under supervision. Advice given by crews to the person on site.

Eastfield, Scarborough

Time of call: 2229

Scarborough were mobilised to reports of a fire in a garden, this turned out to be a false alarm caused by controlled burning under supervision. Advice given by crews to the homeowner.

Belmont Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 0039

Harrogate attended an automatic fire alarm at a residential address, this was a false alarm caused by cooking fumes.

Markenfield Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 0127

2 crews from Harrogate attended a fire inside a brick built bin store. The fire caused extensive damage to 5 wheelie bins and 40% of the structure. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera at this incident. The cause of the fire was due to a disposed BBQ.

Bishophill Junior, York

Time of call: 0039

York attended an automatic fire alarm at a residential address, this was a false alarm caused by an unknown fault.

Abbey Walk, Selby

Time of call: 0308

Selby were mobilised to reports of a strong smell of smoke in the area, after an extensive investigation crews were unable to locate a fire.

Market Lane, Selby

Time of call: 0504

2 appliances from Selby attended an industrial wheelie bin on fire that spread to an air conditioning unit of a café. Crews extinguished using 1 hose reel, 2 breathing apparatus, triple extension ladder, 9m ladder, positive pressure ventilation fan and lighting. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate. The fire caused extensive fire damage to the bin and air conditioning unit.  

Ilkley Moor

**Throughout the night appliances from Grassington and the Argocat (all terrain vehicle) from Skipton have assisted West Yorkshire Fire Brigade with the fire on Ilkley Moor – this incident is still ongoing**
