Incident Summary Night Shift Saturday 4th April 2020

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred:

Time: 18:46
Location: Strensall

Crew from Huntington responded to reports of a fire involving grassland. Crews confirmed up to 500sqm of grass on fire and requested the support of a further two appliances from York and Acomb. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate

Time: 19:37
Location: Terry Street, York

Crew from Acomb attended a fire in a domestic property. This was caused by a microwavable wheat bag being overheated and left on exposed floorboards. Residual heat the caused the floorboards and joists to smolder. Crews used a dry powder extinguisher to put the fire out.

Location: Hull Road, York

Crews from York responded to reports of a large amount of smoke sighted believed to be coming from the rear garden of a property. This was a bonfire in a garden but crews extinguished the fire due to the large amounts of black smoke that was being created.

Location: Scarborough

Crew from Scarborough responded to a report of a fire sighted in a rear garden. On arrival crews confirmed this was controlled burning under supervision. No action required by crews and advice was given to the occupier.

Location: Boroughbridge

Crew from Boroughbridge responded to a report of a fire sighted believed to be coming from a domestic property. On arrival crews confirmed this was controlled burning under supervision.

Location: Malton

Crews from Malton attended a fire in a domestic property. The Fire was caused when the flu of a log burner ignited and spread the fire to the floorboards via radiated heat. Crews used specialist tools to extinguish the fire.

Location: Acaster Malbis

Crews from York attended a residential property to assist with a burst water pipe that had caused the ceiling of the house to partially collapse. Crews isolated the water supply and used small tools to assist with the ceiling.
