Incident Summary, Night Shift, Tuesday 26th November 2019

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Crews have attended various automatic fire alarm actuations throughout the county all of which have been false alarms.

Time: 18:48

Location: Kirk Smeaton

Crews from Selby and neighbouring brigade Pontefract responded to reports of a car fire. Crews extinguished the car using breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and lighting.

Location: Catterick Village

Crews from Richmond and Colburn responded to a car on fire. Crews extinguished the fire using 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and 1 thermal imaging camera. Cause is believed to be an electrical fault.

Location: Wheldrake, York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car in a ditch. Crews investigated the scene and found no persons trapped. Crews liaised with the police at the scene.

Location: Fishburn Road, Whitby

Crews from Whitby responded to reports of a Ford van on fire. Crews extinguished the fire using 1 hose reel jet, thermal imaging camera and small tools. The fire caused damage to both the engine and passenger compartment of the vehicle and is believed to be caused by an electrical fault.

Location: Doublegates Avenue, Ripon

A crew from Ripon responded to reports of a fire in the open. Crews found deliberate fires on a building site and extinguished using 1 hose reel jet.

Location: A1M North Junctions 46-47

Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough attended to reports of a car fire on the hard shoulder. On arrival crews found a small fire confined to the engine compartment of a Peugeot 207. Crews extinguished the fire using 1 hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Location: Fishergate, Ripon

Ripon attended a wheelie bin on fire to the rear of a coffee shop. This was extinguished by the crew using 1 hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera. The fire caused damage to the bin and its contents only. The cause of the fire was deliberate.

 

Crews from York, Harrogate & Scarborough also responded to a number of automatic fire alarms across the county – all of which have all resulted in false alarms.
