Incident Summary – Night Shift Friday 16th March

 Car fire – Oak Beck Road, Harrogate Time of call: 1807 hours

2 crew from Harrogate have been called to a car fire. This was a small fire in the engine compartment of a Volvo which resulted in fire damage to the engine compartment only. The cause is believed to be flammable liquid leaking onto the hot engine. Crews used 1 hose reel and a thermal imaging camera.

 Animal rescue – Moat Way, Brayton Time of call: 1906 hours

A crew from Selby has rescued a kitten from a tree using a triple extension ladder. The kitten was reunited with it’s owners and appeared unharmed.

 Property fire – Fishburn Road, Whitby Time of call: 2014 hours

Crews from Whitby and Lythe have been called to a fuse box on fire in a commercial property. This resulted in damage to the fuse box only. The fire was out on arrival but crews carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera. The cause is believed to be due to water ingress into the fuse box.

 Chimney fire – Grove Park Walk, Harrogate Time of call: 2029 hours

A fire engine and aerial ladder from Harrogate have dealt with a chimney fire in a domestic property. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of soot and the crew used a thermal imaging camera and chimney equipment.

 False alarm – Bishopdyke Road, Cawood Time of call: 2050 hours

2 crews from Selby have investigated reports of a fire at a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to the weather conditions reflecting light and causing an orange glow from the property.

 Chimney fire – Stirton Time of call: 2051 hours

A crew from Skipton has dealt with a chimney fire in a domestic property. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of soot. Crew used various ladders, safety harnesses, a thermal imaging camera and lighting.

 False alarm - High Street, Harrogate Time of call: 2333 hours

2 crews from Harrogate have been called to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to the activation of a security smoke system.

 False alarm - off The Stonebow, York Time of call: 0046 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to the malicious activation of a manual call point.

 Garage fire - Tang Hall Lane, York Time of call: 0120 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have been called to reports of a wheelie bin on fire at a domestic property. Wheelie bin was totally destroyed. The fire spread and caused fire damage to an adjacent hedge as well as to a garage door. The remainder of the garage suffered heat and smoke damage. The cause is believed to be careless disposal of hot embers and crews used 1 hose reel to extinguish the fire.
