Incident Summary – Day Shift – Thursday 22nd November

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Automatic Fire Alarm - Brompton

Time of call: 1156

An appliance from Northallerton  attended an automatic fire alarm, this was a false alarm caused by dust from workmen.

Residential  Fire – Eggborough, Selby

Time of call: 1338

Selby  were mobilised to reports of a house full of smoke. On arrival crews found gas from a portable heater had ignited and the fire was out on arrival. Crews ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan and carried out an inspection using a thermal imagine camera. The cause of the fire was accidental.

Automatic Fire Alarm – North Road, Whitby

Time of call:1323

Whitby attended an automatic fire alarm at a residential property. This was a false alarm caused by low battery on the smoke alarm.

Van Fire - A59, Kirk Hammerton

Time of call: 1331

A crew from Acomb extinguished a Mercedes sprinter fire that was on fire. The van suffered severe fire damage and is believes to be caused by an electrical fault behind the dashboard. Crews used 1 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, cutting gear and lighting at this incident.

HGV Fire – A64, Rillington

Time of call: 1449

Malton attended reports of a articulated lorry on fire, on arrival they found this to be a false alarm with smoke issuing from the engine compartment due to a blown alternator. Crews cooled the engine using 1 hose reel and left in the hands of an engineer.

Automatic Fire Alarm – Queen Street , Scarborough

Time of call: 1549

A crew from Scarborough  attended an automatic fire alarm at a commercial property. This was a false alarm caused by air freshener.

Rubbish Fire – The Crescent, Scarborough

Time of call: 1553

Scarborough extinguished a rubbish fire measuring approx. 2sqm, crews used 1 hose reel jet. The cause of the fire was deliberate.

vehicle Leaking Fueal – Guisborough Road, Whitby

Time of call: 1609

Whitby assisted North Yorkshire Police with a vehicle leaking petrol onto the highway. Crews used 1 hose reel and an environmental pack to clear the spillage.

Automatic Fire Alarm – Ascot Way, York

Time of call: 1622

Acomb  attended an automatic fire alarm at a residential property. This was a false alarm caused by cooking fumes.
