Incident Summary – Day Shift Friday 18th October

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages where incidents have occurred.

Fire – Brompton on Swale

Time of call: 0901 hours

A crew from Richmond has been called to a commercial property following a fire in an industrial dryer. This resulted in fire damage to the inside of the dryer and smoke damage to the property. Fire was extinguished by staff and neighbours using CO2 extinguishers and buckets of water. Crew carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera and a triple extension ladder. The cause is believed to be a faulty thermostat.

 

False alarm – Darlington Road, Richmond

Time of call: 1000 hours

A crew from Richmond has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to dust from cleaners.

 

False alarm – Malpas Road, Northallerton

Time of call: 1222 hours

A crew from Northallerton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

Assist Ambulance – Haxby Road, York

Time of call: 1231 hours

A crew from Huntington has assisted an ambulance crew gain entry to a residential property. A search of the property was carried out by no persons found.

 

False alarm – Nether Poppleton

Time of call: 1327 hours

A crew from Northallerton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to vaping.

 

Car fire – off Seamer Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 1336 hours
A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a car fire involving a Mini. This resulted in slight fire damage to engine compartment only. The fire was out on our arrival. Crew used small tools to isolate battery. Cause is believed to be faulty wiring.

 

False alarm – off Flaxley Road, Selby

Time of call: 1510 hours

A crew from Selby has responded to reports of smoke coming from a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to smoke from controlled burning under supervision behind the building.
