Incident Summary – Day Shift Sunday 21st April

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred:

UPDATE: Fire at Cowesby

Time of call: 0903 hours

A crew from Northallerton has revisited yesterdays fire on a wooded hill side this morning and carried out digging out of hot spots and damping down. Incident was left with landowner. At 1438 hours Northallerton were requested to attend again following further outbreaks of deep seated fire being fanned by an increasing wind. The Argocat from Kirkbymoorside was also mobilised. Assistance was requested and there are currently crews from Thirsk, Helmsley & Ripon fighting this fire, along with the water bowser from Boroughbridge. High volume pump now on route from Richmond.

False alarm – Heslington Road, York

Time of call: 0746 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

False alarm – off Bishophill Junior, York

Time of call: 0800 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the detection system.

False alarm – Hambleton Place, Thirsk

Time of call: 1116 hours

A crew from Thirsk has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

Dangerous structure – Wheldrake

Time of call: 1209 hours

A crew from York has been called to retrieve a large parasol which had blown onto the roof of a domestic property and was at risk of causing damage and injury. Crew used a roof ladder and 9m ladder to move parasol to a safe location.

Small fire – Borrowby

Time of call: 1250 hours

A crew from Lythe has dealt with a fire involving approx. 25m of hedge and undergrowth. Crew used 1 hosereel to extinguish. The cause was spread from controlled burning.

Small fire – Folly Wood, Huby

Time of call: 1257 hours

A crew from Easingwold has dealt with a fire measuring approx. 10m by 20m in an area of woodland. Crew used 1 hosereel to extinguish. The cause is believed to be accidental.

False alarm – Fulford Road, York

Time of call: 1422 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

False alarm – Throxenby Lane, Scarborough

Time of call: 1450 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 Small fire – Valley Gardens, Harrogate

Time of call: 1514 hours

A crew from Harrogate has dealt with a log and small amount of undergrowth on fire in the open. Crew used a knapsack sprayer to extinguish. Cause believed to be deliberate.

Bin fire – Keighley

Time of call: 1525 hours

A crew from Skipton has dealt with a bin fire in West Yorkshire area. Crew used buckets of water to extinguish. The cause is believed to be accidental.

Road traffic collision – Bowes Avenue, York

Time of call: 1551 hours

A crew from York has been called to assist Police at a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a Vauxhall Vectra which had collided with a telegraph pole. No persons trapped or injured. Crew used spreaders to pop the bonnet and make vehicle safe.
