Incident Summary – Day Shift Tuesday 13th March

 

Kitchen fire – Captain Cooks Close, Staithes

Time of call: 0644 hours

Crews from Lythe and Whitby have been called to a fire in the kitchen of a mid terraced house. This involved a piece of wooden worktop placed on to of a hob. This resulted in scorch marks to the wooden worktop only. The cause was accidental and fire crews carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera.

 

Commercial fire – Harmby Road Industrial Estate, Leyburn

Time of call: 0845 hours

Crews from Leyburn and Richmond have dealt with a fire in the drum of a clothes press in a commercial property. This resulted in slight damage to a small amount of fluff and lint only. The fire was out on arrival but crews carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera and hand tools. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of fluff and lint.

 

Toaster fire – Eryholme Lane, Eryholme

Time of call: 0930 hours

2 crews rom Northallerton have been called to a toaster on fire in the kitchen of a private end terraced property. Fire damage was confined to the toaster which was removed to the open prior to our arrival. The cause is believed to be a faulty toaster and crews used a bucket of water to cool the toaster down.

 

Electrical fire – Parliament Street, York

Time of call: 1004 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have been called to an electrical fuse box on fire in a commercial property. This resulted in fire damage to wiring and slight smoke damage to the fuse box. The cause was accidental due to a member of staff spilling water on the electrics. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to carry out an inspection.

 

Van fire – A629, Skipton

Time of call: 1130 hours

A crew from Skipton has been called to a fire behind the dashboard of a transit style van. Minimal fire and smoke damage caused. Cause believed to be an electrical fault. Crew used hose reel jet and thermal imaging camera. Driver had used a dry powder extinguisher prior to our arrival.

 

False alarm – Ramsay Close, York

Time of call: 1159 hours

A crew rom York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to fumes from an aerosol spray.

 

Oven fire – Hillside Gardens, Scarborough

Time of call: 1205 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have dealt with an oven fire in the kitchen of a private semi detached house. Fire damage was caused to a quantity of newspaper and smoke damage to the kitchen. The cause is accidental due to combustibles placed in oven. Crews extinguished using a bucket of sand.

 

Electrical fire – Church Street, Filey

Time of call: 1352 hours

A crew from Filey has dealt with an electrical socket on fire in a residential property. Damage was limited to the socket. The cause is believed to be fat splashing on to the socket. A thermal imaging camera was used for inspection only.

 

False alarm – Beulah Terrace, Scarborough

Time of call: 1442 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

False alarm – Queen Street, Scarborough

Time of call: 1535 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to the system being activated by workmen.
