Incident Summary – Night Shift 22nd March

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.


Fire – Alne *UPDATE*

Time of call: 1514 hours

Crews from Acomb, Huntington and York have dealt with a fire involving approx. 70 one tone bales of straw and a bobcat type vehicle. Crews used 2 hose reels and pitchforks to extinguish. Cause is believed to be an electrical fault on the vehicle.


Road traffic collision & car fire  – A19, Deighton

Time of call: 1905 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have dealt with a 4 vehicle road traffic collision. No persons trapped. Male in Mercedes was uninjured. Female in a Vauxhall suffered minor injuries. Female in Ford suffered wrist and arm injuries. Female in Renault suffered minor injuries. As a result of the collision, the Ford Ka sustained 50% fire, heat and smoke damage. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel to extinguish the fire.


Rubbish fire – Green Lane, Acomb

Time of call: 2038 hours

A crew from Acomb has dealt with a rubbish fire in the open. They used 1 hose reel to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate.


False alarm – Albermarle Crescent, Scarborough

Time of call: 2121 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to reports of a fire behind a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a fire pit being used. Advice given.


False alarm – Percys Lane, York

Time of call: 2145 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.


Small fire – Westborough, Scarborough

Time of call: 2303 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to reports of a fire in an alleyway. This involved a brazier which had been left unattended. Crew used a bucket of water to extinguish.


False alarm – Meadow Way, Huntington

Time of call: 0251 hours

Crews from Huntington and York have investigated reports of a fire in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to dust in a smoke detector.


Fire – off St Nicholas Street, Scarborough

Time of call: 0628 hours

Crews from Scarborough have attended a fire in a commercial property. Fire involved a light fitting. Extinguished by staff with fire extinguisher prior to our arrival. Crew carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure fan to remove smoke. Cause believed to be an electrical fault.
