Incident Summary – Night Shift Friday 7th December

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

False alarm – Moor Lane, Newby

Time of call: 1822 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the system.

Fire – Barlby Road, Selby

Time of call: 1907 hours

2 crews from Selby and a crew from Snaith have dealt with a fire in the living room of a ground floor flat. This resulted in fire, heat and smoke damage to living room and smoke damage to the remainder of the flat. Smoke detectors were fitted in the property and they activated. No persons in the flat at the time of the fire. 2 cats in the property were unharmed. Cause believed to be a candle left unattended. Crew used 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hosereel jets, thermal imaging camera, lighting and positive pressure ventilation fan.  

Fire – Roscoe Street, Scarborough

Time of call: 2016 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to a piece of chipboard on fire in external window frame of a commercial property. This resulted in very slight fire damage to piece of chipboard. Extinguished by staff using a foam extinguisher. Cause believed to be accidental.

Fire – Northallerton

Time of call: 21:50

Two crews from Northallerton attended reports of smoke in a property. On arrival crews located a small fire to food in the microwave, which was out on arrival of crews.

Chimney Fire – Settle

Time of call: 21:57

Settle crews have attended reports of a chimney fire. Crews used one hose reel to extinguish the fire

False alarm – Brailsford Crescent, York

Time of call: 0448 hours

Crews from Acomb and York have attended a domestic property where the boiler was exceeding safe pressure limits and was emitting noises. Crew carried out an inspection, isolated water supply to boiler and gave advice to resident.


In addition to the above incidents our Scarborough, York, Selby and Acomb appliances have attended various fire alarms sounding, all of which were false alarms.
