Incident Summary Night Shift Monday 6th August 2018

7th August 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

A1 N J40 – 51

Time of call: 16:53

Crews from Ripon and Northallerton were called to a LGV trailer that had a fire to the rear wheels. This fire was out on our arrival and the crews used a hose reel jet to dampen down the area. This was caused by a mechanical fault.

Elvington, York

Time of call: 17:17

Crews from York and Huntington were called to what was believed to be a fire inside a farming harvester. This was fumes caused by overheating. The crews used a hose reel jet to cool this down.

Keld Close, Scalby

Time of call: 17:28

Crews from Scarborough were called to an automatic fire alarm sounding with no response from the occupants. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

Hull Road, Selby

Time of call: 17:37

A crew from Selby were called to a report of a fire in the open. This was in fact controlled burning and advice was given.

Bondgate, Ripon

Time of call: 17:41

A crew from Ripon was called to an automatic fire alarm activation. This was a false alarm caused by cooking fumes.

Newbridge, Pickering

Time of call: 18:27

Crews from Pickering, Malton and Kirkbymoorside attended to a fire to a combine harvester which had then spread to a field of standing and cut corn measuring approximately 2 acres. This was caused by a hydraulic fault on the combine harvester. The crews used 2 hose reel jets, 2 triple extension ladders, 2 thermal imaging cameras, small gear and beaters. They also used 2 sets of breathing apparatus which they used for respiratory comfort whilst fighting the fire. The crews from Kirkbymoorside were also able to put to effective use our argocat (all terrain vehicle) specialist appliance to help with extinguishing.  

Wakeman Road, Ripon

Time of call: 20:59

A crew from Ripon were called to a fire in the open. This was a false alarm and was actually controlled burning of garden waste. No Fire Service action was taken.

The Beach Road, Filey

Time of call: 02:47

An appliance from Filey attended and confirmed this incident was a false alarm.
