Incident Summary – Night Shift Saturday 1st December

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Lift rescue – Esplanade, Scarborough

Time of call: 1733 hours

A crew from Scarborough has rescued 4 people from a broken lift in a commercial property. Crew liaised with a lift engineer and all persons were unharmed.

False alarm – Bedale

Time of call: 1749 hours

A crew from Bedale has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault on the detection system.

False alarm – Stokesley

Time of call: 1810 hours

A crew from Stokesley has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a low battery in the smoke detector.

False alarm – Northfields, Strensall

Time of call: 2150 hours

A crew from Huntington has investigated reports of a fire in the rear garden of a domestic property. A search was carried out but no fire could be located.

Small fire – New Lane, Selby

Time of call: 2200 hours

A crew from Selby has attended a small rubbish fire in the open. A squeezy bottle of water was used to extinguish. The cause is believed deliberate by youths.

False alarm – High  Street, Skipton

Time of call: 2253 hours

A crew from Skipton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to the accidental activation of an alarm call point.

Road traffic collision – Weeland Road, Hensall

Time of call: 0048 hours

A crew from Selby has been called to a road traffic collision involving a van which had collided with a telegraph pole. Police and Ambulance in attendance on our arrival. No action taken by fire crew.

Bin fire – James Street, Selby

Time of call: 0109 hours

Crews from York and Selby have been called to reports of 2 bins on fire. Crews used 2 hosereels and a thermal imaging camera. The cause was deliberate.

False alarm –Heslington

Time of call: 0115 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault in the detection system.

House fire – Sutton in Craven

Time of call: 0146 hours

2 crews from Skipton and a crew from Keighley have dealt with a fire which started in the hallway of a domestic terraced property. Severe fire damage was caused to the hallways and there was severe smoke damage to the remainder of the property. 5 persons were rescued from the first floor of the property prior to our arrival by a paramedic using a neighbours ladder. 1 adult male, 1 adult female, a teenage male and 2 young girls have all been taken to hospital with various degrees of smoke inhalation and burns. Crew used 2 hose reels, thermal imaging camera, triple extension ladder, small tools and a reciprocating saw to extinguish the fire. Smoke detectors fitted in the property, activated and raised the alarm.The cause is under investigation.

False alarm –Heslington

Time of call: 0147 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault in the detection system.

Assist Police – Valley Bridge, Scarborough

Time of call: 0350 hours

2 crews and an aerial ladder from Scarborough have been called to assist Police with a male on top of the bridge. Crew used a triple extension ladder to allow the male to climb down.

Effect entry – Hutton Rudby

Time of call: 0418 hours

A crew from Stokesley has assisted Police and Ambulance gain entry to a property after receiving reports of a male with chest pains. Crew were able to use local knowledge to show an alternative access route rather than damaging gates to property.
