Incident Summary – Night shift Saturday 26th September 2020. 

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred. 


Location: Whenby 

Time of call: 17:38 

Crews from Huntington attended a chimney fire in a residential property. This was caused by accumulation of soot. Crews used one hose reel and chimney rods to put out the fire 


Location: Ingleton,Carnforth 

Time of call: 17:40 

A crew from Bentham responded to a car on fire. Fire is believed to be caused by an electrical fault. Crews extinguished fire using two hose reels and two breathing apparatus.  


Location: Hempland Lane, Acomb  

Time of call: 18:31 

Crews from Acomb responded to a report of a fire unattended near some allotments. Crews extinguished the fire due to it being unsupervised using a knapsack sprayer.   


Location: Pateley Bridge 

Time of call: 19:12 

A crew from Harrogate and Grassington responded to reports of a fire sighted in some woods. On arrival crew confirmed this was a bonfire under supervision. Crew gave advice to the responsible person at the scene.   


Location: Westview Close, York 

Time of call: 20:39 

A crew from Acomb responded to a report of an alarm sounding at a residential property, this was a false alarm caused by a fault with the detector. 


Location: Knaresborough Road, Harrogate 

Time of call: 23:38 

A crew from Harrogate responded to a report of an alarm sounding at a residential property, this was a false alarm believed to be caused by smoking materials. 


Location: Skelton, York 

Time of call: 00:56 

Acomb crew attended a smoke alarm activation at a hotel. This was a false alarm caused by accidental activation of the call point.  


Location: York 

Time of call: 01:28 

Crews responded to flooding inside a flat. Flooding was caused by a leaking boiler. Crews isolated  the water supply and assisted the occupant with moving furniture.  


Location: Snape 

Time of call: 03:34 

A crew from Bedale has been called to a domestic property to assist ambulance crew to transfer a male casualty. Crew power used. 


Location: East parade, York 

Time of call: 03:31 

Crews from Acomb and Huntington have been called to reports of smoke in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to the activation of a security smoke cloak.   


Location: Knaresborough 

Time of call: 04:59 

A crew from Knaresborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.
