Incident Summary – Night Shift Sunday 15th April

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

False alarm - Wooler Street, Scarborough

Time of call: 1702 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown cause.

River rescue – River Swale near Asenby

Time of call: 1723 hours

Crews from Thirsk and Ripon have been called to reports of a male in the river. Police had rescued the male prior to our arrival after he had slipped in to his waist whilst avoiding a herd of curious cows. No action taken by Fire Service.

False alarm – Sneaton High Moor

Time of call: 1754 hours

Crews from Whitby and Goathland have investigated reports of smoke coming from the moor. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning by gamekeepers.

False alarm – Forestgate, York

Time of call: 1857 hours

A crew rom Huntington has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty detector.

Cooker fire – Flaxby

Time of call: 1911 hours

Crews from Knaresborough and Harrogate have dealt with a cooker fire in a domestic property. Damage was limited to the cooker only. The fire was out on our arrival and crews isolated the gas supply. Advice given to occupier. Cause believed to be accidental.

False alarm – Staithes

Time of call: 2007 hours

A crew from Lythe has investigated reports of smoke in the open. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.

Road traffic collision – A168, South Kilvington

Time of call: 2119 hours

A crew from Thirsk has attended a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a Toyota which had left the road and overturned. 1 male was out of the vehicle on our arrival and appeared uninured. Fire crew made scene safe and left incident with Police.

Rescue – Foreshore Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 2138 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have rescued 3 teenagers from a disused building after they became stuck on a first floor balcony. The 2 girls and 1 boy were rescued by crews using various ladders and line rescue equipment before being left in the hands of the Police.

False alarm – Kellington

Time of call: 2212 hours

A crew from Selby has investigated reports of smoke in the area. A full search of the village was carried out but no incident was found as the smoke had dispersed.
