Incident Summary – Night Shift Tuesday 25th September

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

False alarm – Harrogate Road, Ripon

Time of call: 1819 hours

A crew from Ripon has investigated reports of a car on fire. This was a false alarm due to a blow head gasket causing a plume of smoke.

False alarm – Osborne Gardens, Harrogate

Time of call: 1839 hours

A crew from Harrogate has investigated reports of smoke in the area. A full search was carried out but no incident could be located.

Road traffic collision – Flotmanby Lane, Muston

Time of call: 2019 hours

Crews from Filey and Scarborough have been called to a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a car on it’s roof. Female passenger was out of vehicle on our arrival. Male driver was trapped in vehicle. He was released by fire crew using cutting equipment. Both casualties taken to hospital by road ambulance with non life-threatening injuries. Crew used stabilisation blocks, lighting, small tools and hydraulic cutting gear. Police & Ambulance also attended.

Gain entry – George Street, Skipton

Time of call: 2038 hours

A crew from Skipton has assisted Ambulance to gain access to a patient in a domestic property. Crew used small tools and manpower. Incident left with Ambulance.

False alarm – Wetherby Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 2123 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to an e-cigarette.

Car fire – A170, Brompton by Sawdon

Time of call: 2249 hours

A crew from Sherburn has dealt with a fire involving a Fiat Doblo van.  Approx 80% of the vehicle was damaged by fire. Crew used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and small tools. The cause is unknown.

Rubbish fire – Castle Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 2350 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have been called to reports of a fire in the open near a commercial property. This involved a quantity of foam matting on fire. Crew used 1 hosereel to extinguish. The cause is believed to be a dropped light.

False alarm – Station Road, York

Time of call: 0652 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a shower.
