17th January 2019

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Time of call: 18:19 Dalton

Crews from Richmond and Colburn were called to assist the ambulance service with gaining safe entry to a property to enable them to treat a child. The child was left in the care of the paramedics and no action was taken by Fire Service.

Time of call: 18:46 Brompton Road, Northallerton

Two crews from Northallerton were initially mobilised to reports of a commercial property on fire. On arriving at the scene, crews were faced with a developed fire to the whole of the building. The priority was to prevent the fire spreading to other nearby properties.

Further assistance was immediately requested and fire engines were sent from Thirsk, Stokesley, Ripon, Richmond, Colburn and Boroughbridge along with our Incident Command Unit and Welfare Unit. Further assistance was also required from Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service to provide an Aerial Ladder Platform.

Due to the presence of cylinders in the building, a significant cordon had to be put in place including road closures. This was due to the risk of exploding cylinders.

The incident has now been scaled down to two appliances from Harrogate and Acomb who have remained scene overnight with an Officer to maintain monitoring of the incident. The incident is ongoing.

Time of call: 20:28 Selby Road, York

Crews from York and Acomb were called to a report of a chimney fire. The fire was confined to the chimney and crews used one hose reel, chimney rods a thermal imaging camera and a triple extension ladder to ensure this was extinguished.

Time of call: 21:23

A crew from Selby were called to concerns over a candle left burning inside a retail premises. Upon inspection,  crews deemed this to be in a safe location with no danger of escalation. No action was taken by Fire Service.

We also attended automatic fire alarm activations in Ripon, Northallerton, Thirsk, Stokesley, York, Harrogate and Knaresborough . These were all false alarms.
