Incident Summary –Night shift –17th July

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred:

Off Dolly Lane, Yafforth

Time of call 17:09

Northallerton crews responded to a bale of hay on fire in a field. The cause of fire is believed to be deliberate, Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel.

Woodlands Drive, Skipton

Time of call 17:30

Fire crew from Skipton assisted two people stuck in a loft. Crews used lift keys to release the lift mechanism allowing the passengers to walk free.

Near Dolly Lane, Northallerton

Time of call 17:36

Fire crew from Northallerton attended another fire in this location involving a second bale of hay. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and was extinguished using a hose reel and a pitchfork.

A61, Near the Crimple Park Garden Centre, Pannal

Time of call 18:31

Harrogate crews responded to a recycling lorry on fire. The lorry was carrying cardboard and the cause of the fire is believed to be an accumulation of materials close to hot components including expanding foam aerosol cans. Crews used a hose reel to extinguish the fire. The truck had fire damage to electrical and hydraulic components.

Church Street, Gargrave, Skipton

Time of call 19:09

Skipton crews attended a fire involving a farm building containing a biomass boiler. The cause of the fire is believed to be friction caused by the auga used to shake the woodchips into the burner. Crews used two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets and a water bowser on the farm to extinguish the fire. Woodchips were all burnt in the fire. Very minor damage to roof of building and corrugated iron of the container.

Off Ashton Avenue, York

Time of call 19:35

Acomb crews attended a fire in a field that was out on arrival. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate. Crews gave advice to some youths.

Near Willow Bank, New Earswick

Time of call 19:48

Huntington crews attended a tree on fire, believed to be caused by smoking materials. Crews used an axe and a hose reel to extinguish the fire.

Several Fire alarm activations were attended in York, Acomb, Scarborough and Northallerton. All were false alarms.
