Incident Summary Night Shift Wednesday 8th  August  2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Crews from around the county have attended a number of automatic fire alarms today. Thankfully all of these have been false alarms.

Grape Lane, Whitby Time of call: 18:14

A crew from Scarborough have attended reports of flooding in Whitby. Crews assisted Yorkshire Water engineers to gain entry to a water valve to isolate leak as well as giving advice to occupiers who’s properties have been effected.

The Oaks, Dalton Time of call: 20:13

A crew from Thirsk have investigated reports of smoke in the Dalton area. On investigation no fire was found.  

Grape Lane, Whitby Time of call: 21:31

A crew from Whitby have assisted a home owner with flooding in their cellar. Crews used a light portable pump to pump out the water contained in the cellar and gave advice to the owner.

Olivers Mount, Scarborough Time of call: 22:32

A crew from Scarborough have extinguished approximately ten metres of gorse on fire. Crews used back pack sprayers to extinguished.

Winthropp Close, Malton Time of call: 04:31

Crews from Malton attended reports of a fence alight at the side of a property. On arrival crews found one fence well alight and the fire had spread to neighbouring trees and an adjoining allotment. Crews used two hose reels to extinguish the fire as well as small tools to create a fire break in the fence. Approximately ten metres of the fence was destroyed.

Tinker Lane, Rufforth     **Incident still ongoing** Time of call: 04:37

Crews from Acomb and York are currently dealing with a heavy goods vehicle trailer that is on fire. The trailer contains a large amount of waste and crews are currently separating the waste to tackle the seat of the fire.

09:30am update- Crews have left the incident with the site owners.  The cause of the fire is believed to be self combustion.

Summerfield Road, York Time of call: 04:47                                     

A crew from Huntington have extinguished a fire in a playground. Crews extinguished two tyres and one wooden post that were believed to be set alight deliberately.  Crews used one hose reel.

Scalm Lane, Cawood Time of call: 06:40                                       

A crew from Selby are currently attended reports of a small fire in Bishop Woods. This was a fire of approximately 10m2. Crews used one hose reel jet, knapsack and beaters to extinguish the fire to grassland in a wooded area. The cause of the fire is believed to have been children with matches.
