Recruitment Event - Thirsk

4th April 2011

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are actively recruiting staff for their station at Thirsk, they are holding an Awareness event at Thirsk Market Place on Saturday 16th April between 10:00am and 3:00pm.

The organiser of the event, Watch Manager Ian Perkins, himself an “On Call” fire-fighter from Stokesley, explains;  “Our fire service serves the communities of the largest county in England with much of it relying on part time, or “On-Call” fire fighters to respond to incidents when needed. These dedicated people carry a pager that alerts them when they need to get to the fire station to answer an emergency call. The job is varied and exciting and I hope that we can attract all members of the community, women and members of other under-represented groups will be especially welcome at the event”.

This is an ideal opportunity to find out what is involved in the rewarding role of an “On Call” firefighter. We look forward to seeing you on the day, alternatively you can call at the Fire station any Monday evening between 7pm and 9pm.
