Firefighters will be carrying out a training exercise at the National Railway Museum in York on the morning of 17 September.

The exercise will involve a simulated collision between a locomotive and a car within the railway museum site. It will not impact on the running of trains in and out of York train station.

Group Manager Tony Peel said: “You may see a number of fire engines at the Railway Museum on 17 September whilst we take part in this planned training exercise. I would like to thank the National Railway Museum for allowing us access to their site and facilities. Working in partnership with other organisations allows us to test the effectiveness of our response if a real incident of this kind was to occur, and continually improve our service to the community.”
