The Fire Cadets Pearson BTEC Level 2 award and certificate in Fire and Rescue Services in the Community qualification has been developed to make a positive difference to young people through the transferable skills they learn through working with the Fire Service.
This will enable them to appreciate the qualities of a good citizenship and to develop themselves through an understanding of their roles and responsibilities in society.
We deliver the Pearson level 2 award and certificate in Fire and Rescue Services in the Community directly into the school as part of their curriculum. The qualification involves course work and practical drills. It is an exciting opportunity for young people which offers challenges and to build disciplined skills in a work environment, and transferable soft skills to be used in their future portfolios.
The program is called ‘Fire Services in the Community’ and is delivered one day a week over one academic year. The course is built up of a number of modules covering various subjects such as:
- The structure of Fire & Rescue services
- How to safely work at height
- How to operate pumps and hose
- Respond to fire service scenarios
- Learn about teamworking and leadership
- Create and deliver community safety campaigns
