Incident Summary – Tuesday 26th May 2026 – Night Shift

Time: 18.05    Location: Castleton, Whitby

Danby crew responded to reports of a BBQ on moorland, crews found the BBQ and extinguished using buckets of water, advice was given to the people present.

Time: 18.52    Location: Harrogate 

Harrogate crew responded to reports of a fire within trees, crews located the fire and extinguished using knapsack sprayers, crews also dampened the surrounding area.

Time: 19.01    Location: Haxby, York

Crews from York, Acomb and Malton responded to a garage fire attached to a residential property. Crews used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish and prevented fire spread to the property. Cause believed to be electrical fault.

Time: 19.02    Location: Prospect Road, Harrogate 

Harrogate crews responded to a small area of a hedge on fire, crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish.

Time: 19.15    Location: Haleys Terrace, York 

A crew from Easingwold responded to reports of a vehicle smoking. On arrival crews confirmed there was no fire and the driver was in the care of the paramedics on scene. Crews used small tools to isolate the vehicle battery

Time: 19.22  Location: Commercial Street, Tadcaster

Tadcaster crew responded to reports of a bin on fire in a bus station. The fire was out on arrival but crews used a bucket of water to dampen down the bin .

Time: 20.11    Location: New Earswick, York

A crew from Tadcaster attended a small fire measuring approximately 1 X 1 metres, crews used a knapsack sprayer to extinguish.

Time: 20.24    Location: Northallerton

Northallerton crew responded to a late fire call, fire was believed to be out but crews checked and ensured there was no risk.

Time: 20.29    Location: Scarcroft Road, York

Easingwold crew responded to a bin on fire in a park, crews used two knapsack sprayers to extinguish. Cause believed to be deliberately set by youths, police were informed.

Time: 20.51     Location: Skewsby

Malton crew responded to a fire in a garage, on arrival one lithium battery fire had been extinguished prior to fire service arrival. Crews used one hose reel jet to dampen down.

Time: 21.10    Location: Thanet Road, York

Acomb crew responded to a waste bin on fire, crews used buckets of water to extinguish Cause believed to be deliberate.

Time: 21.28    Location: Danby Low Moor

Lythe crew responded to reports of moorland smouldering, on arrival this was a false alarm, crews checked the surrounding area thoroughly and confirmed no sign of smoke or fire.

Time: 21.54    Location: Ingleton

A crew from Hawes as well as assistance from a kirkby lonsdale appliance (North West fire service). responded to two wooden pallets on fire, crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish.

Time: 22.19   Location: Jubilee Close, Skipton

A crew from Skipton responded to reports of a power line banging, on arrival crews found a power line arching, northern power grid were requested and isolated the power. Crews assisted northern power grid by setting up a cordon before leaving it in their hands.

Time:  02.52   Location: Topcliffe Airfield

A crew from Thirsk responded to a report of a person who had become trapped between two wire fences.  Crew used wire cutters and hard and soft protection to release the person from the fence.

Time:  05.13   Location:  Friarage Street, Northallerton

Two crews from Northallerton responded to a report of smoke coming from a refrigeration unit on the roof of a property.  This was found to be a false alarm.

Crews from Tadcaster, Selby, Easingwold, York and Whitby responded to automatic fire alarm activations. After investigation these were found to be false alarms. Advice was given to the responsible person present.
