Incident summary – Wed 27th May day shift

 07:16 Gowerdale Wood, Hawnby

Crew from Thirsk and Pickering responded to reports of branches and brash on fire. On arrival crew requested a further two appliances and a water bowser to extinguish the fire. Fire measuring 25m x 5m. Incident is still under supervision by estate manager.

09:26 A19, Thirsk

Northallerton and Ripon crews responded to a reports of smoke issuing from HGV. After a search of the area, crew confirmed this is believed to be a false alarm, dust from a road sweeper is thought to be mistaken for smoke.

10:02 Bennett Street, Skipton

Skipton crew responded to investigate a report of gas cylinders hissing in a rear garden. Crew inspected and confirmed this was not a gas leak but a water leak. Crew isolated the water supply.

10:14 A171 Newton Mulgrave

Lythe were requested to assist Police with a fuel spillage following a road traffic collision. The incident involved two vehicles, no people were trapped, however one person with a head injury was given emergency care by crew until arrival of paramedics. Crews washed fluid from carriageway.

10:30 Drax Power Station, Drax

Selby, Snaith and Acomb crews assisted on site crew with a fire involving phenolic foam on a boiler. This is believed to be caused accidentally. Crews used an aerial ladder platform and breathing apparatus to assist the site fire team with extinguishing the fire.

11:11 A1 Southbound, Baldersby to Dishforth. 

Ripon, Knaresborough and Harrogate crew responded to a two vehicle road traffic collision. No people were trapped  or injured, Crews user crew power to move vehicles to a safe location. Incident left in the hands of Police.

13:19 Woodlea Avenue, York.

Harrogate assisted a male with mobility issues, he had fallen out of bed and was unable to help himself up.

13:28 Ashlands Road, Northallerton

Northallerton crews were requested to assist Ambulance with gaining entry to a domestic property. On arrival crew liaised with Ambulance at the scene and it was deemed Fire Service assistance not required.

14:00 Whitby Fire Station.

A person attended Whitby fire station to seek help with removing a ring stuck on their finger. Crews used a ring cutter to remove ring.

14:46 Whitcliffe Lane, Littlethorpe

Ripon crew investigated a report of smoke issuing from a telecommunications box. The cause of the smoke was not a fire but part of the generator process. No assistance required.

15:31 Gibb Street, Cowling.

Police requested assistance with gaining entry to a domestic property due to concerns for the resident. Crew used a ladder to get in through a first floor window. No further assistance was required by Fire Crews. Incident left in the hands of Police.

16:02 Olivers Mount, Scarborough

Scarborough crews responded to a small fire involving bracken. Crews used beaters to extinguish the fire.

16:17 Shortbank Road, Skipton

Skipton crews responded to a small fire which was established as a campfire left unattended. Crew extinguished using knapsack sprayers.
