Incident Summary – Thursday 23rd July – Night Shift
Time: 17:28 Location: Low Road, Thoxenby
Scarborough crew were mobilised to a small fire in the woodland measuring 1 square metre. 2 knapsack sprayers used to extinguish the fire.
Time: 17:42 Location: Britton Abbey, Tadcaster
Tadcaster crew came across a vehicle smoking in a car park and leaking fuel. Crews made the vehicle safe and used drizit pads to soak up the fuel. Advice given to owner and incident left with them to await recovery.
Time: 17:47 Location: Leyburn Road, Masham
A crew from Leyburn were mobilised to vegetation smouldering within an allotment. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish.
Time: 18:22 Location: Arkengarthdale Moor
Crews from Reeth, Leyburn and Richmond were mobilised to reports of a moor fire. On arrival it was a car that was well alight and spread to surrounding grassland, with the fire measuring 25m x 25m. Crews used beaters, knapsack sprayers and ferried water onto the moor using the Argocat to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was 100% fire damaged and believed to have been started deliberately. Police informed.

A crew from Stokesley were mobilised to a disposable BBQ left unattended causing the grass surrounding it to smoulder. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish.
Time: 19:22 Location: Scarborough
Crew from Scarborough were mobilised to a fire seen in the open, crews continued on foot to try locate but nothing sighted and no further calls received.
Time: 20:04 Location: Chubb Hill Road, Whitby
A crew from Whitby were mobilised to a report of a fire in the bushes. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish with the cause believed to be deliberate. Police informed.
Time: 20:27 Location: Ringlet Chase, Knaresborough
Crew from Knaresborough were mobilised to an electric car that was sparking. Thermal imaging camera used to check for hotspots and advice given to owner.
Time: 21:02 Location: Barrowcliff Road, Scarborough
Scarborough crew were mobilised to an automatic fire alarm within a residential building. This was confirmed to be a false alarm caused by a cigarette.
Time: 21:48 Location: Ryecroft, Strensall
Huntington crew were mobilised to a report of a fire in the open. On arrival 100 squared metres of grass was well alight. Crews used 2 hose reel jets to extinguish. The cause was believed to have been deliberate and the Police were notifed.
Time: 22:41 Location: High Street, Knaresborough
Crews from Knaresborough and Harrogate were mobilised to a a property fire after smoke was sighted coming from a residential premises. On arrival, black smoke was found to be coming from a chimnea burning at rear of property. Advice given.
Time: 00:48 Location: Scalby Road, Scarborough
Scarborough and Filey crews were mobilised to an automatic fire alarm within a residential building. This was confirmed to be a false alarm caused by a cigarette. Advice given.
Time: 04:56 Location: A1 southbound, near junction 47 Allerton Park
Following a Police report of a two car RTC with one vehicle on fire, fire crews from Knaresborough, Harrogate and Tadcaster were dispatched. On arrival, the incident was found to be a single car RTC with the car moved by Police from the central reservation to the hard shoulder. The car driver was being checked by paramedics for minor injuries. No fire to car and no actions required by fire service.
