Incident Summary – 31st July – Day Shift
08:57 – Galphay Road, Kirkby Malzeard
Ripons crew attended an incident involving reports of a bonfire that appeared to be unattended. On crews arrival this was found to be a controlled burn.
09:06 – Harlow Oval, Harrogate
Harrogate’s first appliance responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding in a residential property. This was found to be a false alarm due to dust getting into the detector head.
09:10 – Pavilion Close, Filey
Scarborough’s appliance were mobilised to a person trapped in a lift. Crews used crew power to force open the lift and the incident was handed over to paramedics.
11:17 – Main Street, Leavening
Crews from Kirkbymoorside and Acomb responded to reports of the rear end of a bin wagon on fire. Crews extinguished and dampened down the contents using a hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots and the incident was left with the council.
12:45 – Sleights, Whitby
Whitby’s appliance responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at a property. This was found to be a false alarm.
14:19 – Sands Road, Hunmanby
Both Scarborough appliances were mobilised to a car fire that had spread to nearby hedgerow. Crews used two hose reel jet to extinguish and a thermal imaging camera was used for checking hotspots. The cause of the fire is unknown.
14:39 – Belmont, Brotherton
Tadcaster’s crew responded to reports of a fire in a wooded area. The fire measured approximately 1m by 1m, crews extinguished using two knapsack sprayers.
15:59 – Harmby Road, Leyburn
Leyburn’s appliance responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision as requested by police. Crews used small tools to make the vehicle safe and an IEC pack to provide first aid to the casualty. The incident was left with police and paramedics.
