Incident Summary – Tuesday Nightshift, 29th September 2026
Time: 17:22 Location: Dunslow Road, Scarborough
Scarborough responded to reports of smoke coming from a vehicle. Crews accessed the engine bay to inspect the original source of smoke using a thermal imaging camera. All thermal readings did not come back excessive and it is believed that the smoke was from an overfilled oil revisor. Advice was given to the vehicle owner.
Time: 17:29 Location: Hookstone Chase, Harrogate
Harrogate responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. After inspection, this was a false alarm caused by cooking fumes. Advice was given.
Time: 17:50 Location: Skipton
Skipton mobilised to a person trapped inside a public toilet after a door handle malfunction. Crews released the male using crew power and secured the toilet from further use until the door is fixed.
Time: 18:24 Location: Near Markington
Harrogate responded to a vehicle well alight. Crews wearing breathing apparatus for comfort extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and accessed the bonnet using e-draulic spreaders to dampen down. The incident was left with the vehicle owner who had arranged recovery.

A crew from Harrogate responded to reports of a fire alarm sounding. This was a false alarm caused by a faulty detector head.
Time: 22:07 Location: Ryedale District
One of our Hazardous materials officers assisted ambulance with reports of an unknown substance being thrown onto an individual. The individual was advised to remove any affected clothing as a precaution until tests could be carried out to see if the substance was hazardous or not. However, after testing nothing hazardous was discovered and the affected individual displayed no symptoms after being checked over by paramedics.

Both Scarborough appliances responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision where a car had driven into a hedge and one occupant of the vehicle was reported trapped inside. Crews arrived on scene and liased with paramedics already in attendance who confirmed one occupant was out on arrival and the other climbed out the back of vehicle, both with minor injuries. Fire crews assisted with scene safety before leaving the incident.

Scarborough responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential property. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm and advice was given to the occupant.
Time: 23:32 Location: Fulford Road, York
York and Acombs Ariel ladder platform appliances was sued to rescue a young person from the roof of a 20 foot high building. No injuries were reported at this and the young persons was lowered to ground safely and left in the hands of a responsible person.
Time: 23:41 Location: Heck
Appliances from Selby, Snaith & Goole (Humberside), Askern (South Yorkshire), alongside specialist high volume pumps from Harrogate and Richmond, a welfare unit from Thirsk and Tadcasters Water Bowser are in attendance at a large wood chipping fire measuring approximately 30 square metres. Crews are working to extinguish the fire. The fire can be seen from some distance and also from the M62. Crews will be in attendance for sometime extinguishing the fire.

A crew from Kirkbymoorside responded to reports of a carbon monoxide alarm, linked with a fire alarm, sounding. Crews investigated and confirmed this to be a false alarm.

A crew from Acomb responded to reports of a person stuck in a lift. Crews released the person using crewpower.
