Incident Summary – Night Shift, Thursday 1st January
Time: 16.58 Location: Hutton Hang
A Crew from Bedale responded to a report of a fire involving bales of hay, seen in a field. On arrival of the crews this was found to be a controlled burn with responsible person in attendance.
Time: 16.59 Location: Galtres Avenue, York
Crews from York and Acomb responded to a report of a bin on fire which was affecting the property. Crews found the fire to the bin had spread to the fence and an external door of the property. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke from the property.
Time: 18.39 Location: Crescent Avenue, Whitby
A crew from Whitby and the Aerial Ladder Platform from Scarborough responded to a report of some scaffolding that had come loose and was falling from a property. Using the Aerial Ladder Platform crews removed a further 6 unsecured scaffold boards.
Time: 20:25 Location: Bramham Road, York
Crews were requested by police to assist with flooding inside a residential premises. Upon arrival we discovered we were no longer required. Inspection only.
Time: 01:15 Location: Range Road, Catterick Garrison
Crews from Richmond and Leyburn responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision. One casualty was extricated from the vehicle left in care of paramedics also on scene. Crews used stabilisation and e-draulic cutting equipment.
Time: 02.57 Location: South Bank Avenue, York
A crew from York responded to a request for assistance from Ambulance with a difficult extrication of a casualty from the first floor of a property.
Time: 03.37 Location: Woodlands Park, Pickering
The crew from Kirkbymoorside responded to a request to assist Ambulance with the extrication of a casualty from their property. Crews used crew power to lift the casualty into the Ambulance chair and into the Ambulance.
Time: 04.48 Location: Main Street, Grassington
Crews from Skipton and Grassington responded to a report of a fire alarm sounding in a premises and signs of heat and smoke coming from a chimney breast. On arrival of crews smoke was found to be coming from under floorboards near the hearth. This was found to be caused by a fireplace that had been placed too close to a beam, causing the beam to catch fire. Crews exposed the beam and extinguished the fire.
Crews from Skipton, Scarborough, Northallerton, Whitby and York also attended reports of automatic fire alarm activations. These were found to be false alarms.
