Incident Summary – Thursday Nightshift,12th March 2026

Time: 19:40  Location: Whitby Bridge, Whitby

Crews from Whitby, Lythe and Robin Hoods Bay alongside Police, Ambulance and Coastguard mobilised to the River Esk in Whitby after a member of the public believed somebody had entered the water from the bridge. After downstream bank searches were conducted by fire crews, nobody was located in the water but were later found by police after returning to the bridge they abseiled from to collect there equipment. The person was safe and well and the incident was left with police.

Time: 21:47  Location: Abbey Street, Acomb

Acomb assisted ambulance crews with gaining entry to a property. Crews gained entry using small tools and the occupant was left in the hands of ambulance crews.

Time: 22:31  Location: A684, Aysgarth to Bainbridge

Crews from Hawes and Leyburn responded to reports of a vehicle surrounded by floodwater. Crews found two occupants inside the vehicle who needed assistance moving away from the flood water and to a place of safety. Crews monitored the water levels until they had receded to a safe position. The driver was reminded of the dangers associated with driving through floodwater.

Time: 23:18 Location: Regent Street, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a request from ambulance crews to gain entry to a property. After crews used a method of entry kit to gain access to the property the occupant was found safe and well with no injuries. The incident was left with ambulance crews and fire crews resecured the front door.

Crews from Harrogate (x2), Acomb and Whitby responded to activated fire alarms. After inspection, these were all confirmed as false alarms.
