Incident Summary – 19th June 2026 – Night Shift

Time:  17.24    Location: Jockey Lane, Huntington

Crews from York responded to a report of a fire in a garden of a property.  on arrival of the crews this was found to be an unsupervised controlled burn which was nearly extinguished.  Crews had no concerns regarding the possibility of it spreading.

Time:  18.14    Location:  Deepdale, Scarborough

Crews from Scarborough and Kirkbymoorside with the Argocat responded to a report of a fire to grassland and gorse.  On arrival of the crews the fire measured approx 50m x 70m and was well alight.  Crews used 1 hose reel jet, 2 knapsack sprayers and beaters to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area.

Time:  19.08    Location:  Chestnut Avenue, Thornton le Dale

A crew from Pickering responded to a report of a 2 vehicle traffic collision.  On arrival of the crew all persons were out of the vehicles with no injuries.  Crews made the scene safe and left the incident in the hands of the police.

Time:  20.15    Location: Archie Street, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to a report of a strong smell of smoke in a residential area.  The smell of smoke was found to be coming from a neighbours BBQ and no Fire Service action was required.

Time:  00.17    Location: Seamer, Scarborough

Crews from Scarborough and Sherburn responded to reports of a burning smell coming from a property. After investigation, this was found to be a false alarm, advice was given to the responsible person present.

Time: 02.39     Location: M62

Crews from Selby, alongside assistance from Snaith and Goole (Humberside Fire and Rescue Service) and Pontefract (West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service) responded to a vehicle fire. Crews used one breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish.

Time:  03.43    Location:  Eastholme Drive, York

A crew from Acomb responded to a request from ambulance to gain entry to a premises on behalf of Ambulance due to concerns for the occupant.  Crews used small tools to gain entry to the property.

 

Crews from Harrogate, Northallerton, Ripon and Bentham responded to reports of an automatic fire alarm activations.  After inspection these were found to be false alarms.
