Incident Summary – Monday 20th July 2026 – Night Shift

Time:  17.22     Location: Robin Hoods Bay

Crews from Robin Hoods Bay responded to assist paramedics extricate a casualty from a property. Crews used ambulance equipment and crew power to assist, then left the casualty in the care of the paramedics.

Time: 17.43      Location: South Otterington

Northallerton and Thirsk crews responded to reports of a combine harvester on fire. On arrival crews determined that the combine harvester was not involved with the fire and it was just the fire in the field measuring approximately 03 x 15 metres. Crews used beaters and knapsack sprayers to extinguish. Advice was given to the responsible person present.

Tadcaster crew responded to a campfire measuring approximately 01 x 01 metres. Crews used two knapsack sprayers to extinguish.

Time: 18.54      Location: Staxton

Scarborough and Filey crews responded to a tumble dryer on fire. On scene, crews discovered the fire had spread into the roof above the room. Crews used two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, crews also used a thermal imaging camera to check for further fire spread.

Grassington crews responded to individuals having a BBQ in an area where BBQs are not prohibited. Crews extinguished using a bucket of water and gave advice.

Time: 20.54      Location: Cliffe

Selby crews responded to reports of a fire in the open. On arrival this was found to be a controlled BBQ, advice was given to the people present.

Time: 21:00      Location: York

Crew from York responded to reports of youths starting a fire in some grassland. Crews attended and located a fire measuring 4 x 2 metres. Knapsack sprayers used to extinguish.

Time:  21:06     Location: Levisham

Crew from Pickering responded to reports of a fire sighted near Levisham. On arrival crews located a controlled burn that had been left unsupervised. Crew extinguished using 1 hose reel jet.

Time:   21:26    Location: Silsden

Both Skipton appliances were mobilised to assist West Yorkshire fire service with a barn on fire.

Time:  21:44     Location: Glusburn

Crew from Grassington were mobilised to reports of a fire sighted. Crew located a bonfire left unsupervised consisting of building waste. Fire extinguished using 1 hose reel jet.

Time: 21:52      Location: Staxton

Crew from Malton attended the scene of a previous fire after smoke was seen coming from within a metal container used to hold paper. Crew used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish and dampen down.

Time:  23:36     Location: Richmond

Crew from Richmond assisted at a property where water was leaking from a boiler. Crews isolated the water internally and externally and assisted with clean up of considerable water damage.

Time:  01.57     Location: Scarborough

Scarborough crew responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding in a property. Crews carried out external investigation, no sign of fire.

Time: 03.08      Location: Harrogate 

Harrogate crew responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at a property. after investigation crews found this to be a false alarm. Crews waited for the responsible person to arrive and reset the system.

Time: 03.16      Location: York 

Crew from York assisted paramedics gain entry to a property due to welfare concerns for the occupant. Occupant opened the door and allowed paramedics access as soon as the fire service arrived. No action taken by crews.

Time: 03.32      Location: York

A crew from York responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding, after investigation crews found this to be a false alarm. Advice was given to the responsible person present.

Time: 05.13      Location: York

A crew from York responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding. Responsible people were in attendance and after investigation this was found to be a false alarm.
