Incident Summary – 29th July – Day Shift

08:53 – Water End, York

Acomb’s appliance were mobilised to assist with a person trapped in a bathroom. Crews used a door enforcer to gain entry and release them safely.

09:17 – Burton Salmon

Tadcaster’s crew responded to reports of a fire smouldering in the woods. Crews extinguished the fire using two knapsack sprayers and a wildfire rake.

10:18 – Cliff Top, Filey

A crew from Filey were mobilised to an incident involving a deliberate fire to the bushes in a car park, crews used a bucket of water to extinguish and the incident was left with police.

10:34 – York Place, Knaresborough

Knaresborough’s appliance responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at a residential premises, after investigating, this was found to be a false alarm due to testing.

13:37 – Fordon Lane, Staxton

Scarborough’s appliance were mobilised to reports of 20 metres of hedgerow that had caught fire. On crews arrival, the hedge was still smouldering, crews used beaters and a hose reel jet to extinguish and dampen down.

14:41 – Goathland, Whitby

Whitby’s crew responded to reports of a campfire in a dry wooded area. On crews arrival the campfire was no longer in use, crews confiscated fire lighters and gave advice to responsible person.

15:23 – Leyburn

Leyburn’s appliance attended a residential property with an automatic fire alarm sounding, this was due to a crisp packet being left on the hob causing it to smoulder. Crews inspected the property to ensure no further risk and gave advice to occupiers.

15:37 – A1237, Haxby

Crews from York and Acomb were mobilised to reports of a combine harvester on fire. Crews extinguished using one hose reel jet and a thermal imagining camera to check for hotspots, advice was given to the farmer.

16:02 – Millfield Lane, Easingwold

Thirsk’s crew were mobilised to a small fire in the open that had been left unattended, crews used a bucket of water to extinguish.

16:25 – Hipswell Road, Hipswell

Northallerton’s appliance responded to reports of a bin wagon on fire. This incident is still ongoing.
