Incident Summary – 2nd August – Night Shift
18:23 – Common Lane, Burn
Selby’s retained crew responded to reports of a small fire in the open. The fire measured approximately 2m by 2m and was out on the arrival of crews, no action taken.
18:35 – Queens Terrace, Scarborough
Malton and Robin Hood’s Bay responded to a possible fire in a residential property. After investigation, this was found to be a water heater that had began smoking due to an electrical fault, crews isolated the electrics and gave advice to the occupier.
18:45 – Cod Beck, Osmotherly
Northallerton’s appliance was mobilised to an unattended campfire in the woods. Crews used a knapsack sprayer, buckets and small tools to extinguish the fire.
18:55 – Hipswell Road, Catterick Garrison
Reeth and Leyburn’s crews were requested by police to assist with scene safety following a road traffic collision. Crews provided first aid using an IEC pack to treat minor injuries then carried out general scene safety. The incident was left with police and ambulance.
19:03 – Crackpot Hall Road, Keld
A crew from Hawes were mobilised alongside paramedics and mountain rescue to help locate a casualty that had fallen and sustained injuries whilst walking. The casualty was found by mountain rescue and the incident was handed over to paramedics. No further fire service action taken.
19:54 – Osbaldwick, York
York’s crew responded to reports of a casualty that had fallen within their property and was unable to get back up. Crew power was used to lift them into a comfortable and safe position. The incident was left with a responsible person whilst awaiting the arrival of ambulance.
20:24 – Stray Road, York
York’s appliance was mobilised to reports of a fire that had been abandoned. Crews extinguished using knapsack sprayers, the incident was left in hands of police.
20:40 – Leeside, York
Acomb’s crew responded to a small fire that had been deliberately started in a park. The fire had been extinguished prior to crews arrival. The incident was passed over to police.
20:59 – Bedlam Hill, Borrowby
Crews from Thirsk and Northallerton were mobilised to a potential property fire. On crews arrival, this was found to be a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given to the responsible person.
21:37 – Lupton Bank, Glasshouses
Summerbridge’s appliance responded to reports of a fire in the open. This was a controlled burn under supervision. Crews gave advice to the person in attendance.
06:11 – Brayton Braff, Brayton
Selby’s crew were mobilised to an unattended bonfire in the woods. Crews used knapsack sprayers and wildfire tools to extinguish.
Crews from Harrogate, York (x2), Acomb, Lythe and Ripon were mobilised to automatic fire alarm activations throughout the evening, these were all false alarms.
