Incident Summary – Tuesday 11th August – Night Shift

Time: 17:42  Location: Settle

A crew responded to a fire in woodland measuring approximately 10m x 15m. Crews used one hose reel jet, knapsack sprayers and a beater to extinguish.

Time: 18:44  Location: Skipton

A crew responded to a report of a fire sighted in the open. On arrival this was confirmed to be a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given.

Time: 19:01  Location: Riverside Road, Richmond

A crew from Richmond responded to a report of a bin on fire. The fire was out on arrival of the crew and no action was required.

Time: 19:12  Location: Church Fenton

Both crews from Tadcaster responded to an area of smouldering grassland measuring approximately 50m x 30m. Crews used four hose reel jets and wildfire tools to extinguish and dampen down.

Time: 19:17  Location: York Road, Thirsk

A crew from Northallerton responded to multiple reports of a fire sighted in the open. This was found to be a bonfire measuring approximately 3m x 3m. Crews extinguished using a hose reel jet. Advice was given.

Time: 20:50  Location: East Parade, Harrogate 

Harrogate responded to an activated smoke alarm inside the flat of a residential building. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm as the property was unoccupied. No signs of smoke or fire were present after crews inspected using a triple extension ladder.

Time: 21:00  Location: Aiskew, Bedale

Bedale responded to a fire sighted at the rear of a property. This was a controlled burn under supervision and advice was given.

Time: 21:09  Location: St Leonard’s Crescent, Scarborough

Scarborough responded to reports of a fire in the rear of a property. After inspection, this was confirmed as a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given to the responsible person.

Time: 21:20  Location: Crookland Lane, Huntington

Huntington responded to a fire in the open. Police were already in attendance and had extinguished the small fire prior to crews arrival which was believed to had been deliberate. Crews conducted an inspection only.

Time: 21:26  Location: Huby

Easingwold responded to a fire to a tree which had started smouldering close to where a previous incident took place. Crews sprayed a full tank of water on the tree and surrounding area using a hose reel jet.

Time: 23:00  Location: Forge Valley, East Ayton

Scarborough responded to reports of a fire in woodland. However, an inspection of the local area crews were unable to located any signs of smoke or fire.

Time: 23:34  Location: Abbey Lane, Whitby

Whitby and Lythe responded to a small bin fire within a residential property which was out on arrival of crews. Crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke within the affected room of the building.

Time: 23:45  Location: Clotherholme Road, Ripon

Ripon responded to a fire sighted at the rear of a property. After inspection, crews discovered a controlled fire within a fire pit. Advice was given.

Time: 23:46  Location: Foxholes

Sherburn and Scarborough responded to a vehicle on its roof. Four casualties involved in the incident were out on arrival of fire crews. Fires crews provided immediate emergency care alongside paramedics. Crews also assisted Police with making the scene safe. The casualties were taken to hospital via road ambulance.

York responded to two people who had accidentally become trapped and were unable to exit the enclosed grounds of a commercial property. Crews located the people who were both uninjured.

Time: 02:51  Location: Crosshills Road, Cononley

A crew from Skipton responded to a report of a fire in the rear garden of a property. On arrival this was found to be a controlled burn in a fire pit under supervision. No action was required by the fire service.
