Incident Summary – Day Shift – Thursday 20th August
Time: 08.22 Location: Carlton
Selby crews responded to a bin wagon smoking. Crews followed the wagon to the waste removal site to empty the contents. No fire was found, advice was given.
Time: 09.54 Location: Aldborough
Ripon crew responded to reports of smoke sighted. On arrival crews found a small fire measuring approximately 2 X 2 metres, responsible person was in attendance but due to the smoke blowing over the road crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet. Advice was given.
Time: 10.14 Location: Kilburn
Northallerton crew responded to reports of smoke sighted. On arrival this was controlled burning under supervision. Advice was given to the responsible person present.
Time: 10.29 Location: Whitby
A crew from Whitby responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding. On arrival this was confirmed to be a false alarm, advice was given to the responsible person present.
Time: 12.27 Location: Lockton
Goathland crew responded to reports of smoke sighted. This was found to be a false alarm.
Time: 13.34 Location: Sproxton
Helmsley crew responded to reports of smoke sighted. On arrival this was found to be a false alarm due to control burning under supervision. Advice was given to the responsible person.
Time: 14.07 Location: Selby
A crew from Selby responded to reports of smoke sighted, on arrival crews found a fire measuring approximately 5 X 2 metres that had spread to adjacent trees. Crews extinguished using a hose reel jet.
Time: 14.17 Location: Selby
Crews from Selby and York responded to a caravan on fire. Crews used 02 breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish. Crews checked the caravan using a thermal imaging camera for any hotspots. The incident was left with the police.
Time: 14.16 Location: Cawood
Tadcaster crew responded to reports of a cow in the river. Crews thoroughly checked both sides of the river bank and the river, no cow was found.
Update – Fire control have received a call back stating the cow has been found safe and well.
