Incident Summary – 23rd August 2026, Sunday Dayshift

Time:   10:01   Location: South Crescent Road, Filey

Filey assisted ambulance crews with gaining entry to a property using small tools to complete a welfare check on the occupant inside. The patient was left in the care of paramedics.

Time:  11:19   Location: Near Gargrave, Skipton

Skipton responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. After inspection, this was caused by a tumble dryer fire out on their arrival. No fire spread was evident inside the tumble dryer, only charring to a build up of lint inside. Crews carried out an inspection and gave advice to the responsible person.

Scarborough responded to reports of a fire sighted from the road. This was a BBQ under supervision. Advice was given.

Time:   11:37  Location: Falsgrave Road, Scarborough

Scarborough crew were requested to assist ambulance with gaining entry to a property after no response from the occupant inside. Crews arrived within minutes of the request and found paramedics had already gained entry and no fire service action was required.

Time:  11:42    Location: Ingleton

Bentham responded to a large bonfire left unattended. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and hand tools. Advice was given to the responsible person was they had been located.

Time:   11:43  Location: Near Gargrave, Skipton

Whilst returning from a previous incident, crews investigated fire sighted in the distance from the road. After inspection, this was confirmed as controlled burning. No action by fire service was required and advice was given.

Time: 11:47    Location: Cayton, Eastfield

Scarborough responded to reports of fire. After inspection, this was a fire inside a cultivated field with no risk of fire spread. Inspection only, no fire service action required.

Time: 12:07    Location: Near Carlton in Cleveland

Stokesley mobilised to fire sighted in the area alongside an assisting appliance from Cleveland fire brigade. Crews located the source of the fire which was confirmed as a controlled burn under supervision. Advice given.

Time:  13:40   Location: Overdale, Eastfield

Scarborough responded to a person reporting that they were trapped inside their property. On arrival crews made contact with the occupant who was safe and well and confirmed they were not stuck. This was a false alarm with good intent.

Time:  14:58   Location: Knaresborough Road, Ripon

Ripon responded one campfire within some woodland . Crews extinguished the fire using knapsack sprayer and advice given.

Time:  15:01   Location: Sleights

Whitby investigated reports of what the caller believed was smoke sighted in the area. After a thorough investigation crews were unable to locate any sign of smoke or fire. It is believed the sea fret in the area may had been mistaken as smoke.

Time:  15:07   Location: Clementhorpe, York

York responded to reports of a fire being lit in a public area. Crews arrived before the BBQ had not been lit in a public area. Crews gave advice to the responsible people.

Time:  15:33   Location: Slee Gill, Richmond

Richmond inspected smoke sighted in the area. After an inspection no fire could be located.

Time: 15:44    Location: Elvington

York responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential property. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false a alarm.

Time:  16:28   Location: A64, High Hutton

Malton responded to reports of smoke seen from a road user on the A64. Crews investigated and found no fire. It is believed the dust from farm machinery in the area could had been mistaken as smoke.

Time:  16:33   Location: A165, Filey Area

Scarborough investigated reports of a large fire reported by an aircraft flying in the area. A thorough search of some of the areas had to be completed due to limited information passed on the specific location of the fire. Crews located a controlled burn under supervision and gave advice.
