Incident Summary – Night Shift 29th August

Time: 22:38  Location: Filey

Crew from Filey assisted paramedics to extricate a casualty from a property. Crew power only used to assist casualty to waiting ambulance.

Time: 23:03   Location: York

Crew from Acomb attended a property after the occupant reported a chemical smell in their house. Crews attended but were unable to locate any source of the smell. Believed to be just cleaning products.

Time: 00.26  Location:  New Quay Road, Whitby

A large Water rescue response was mobilised after a report of 2 people climbing on a mast and one was seen to have fallen into the river.  On arrival the first crews on scene started a bank side search until Police confirmed that the persons had been seen on CCTV and climbed out of the water.  After further reports of hearing splashing in the water, Coastguard conducted a thorough search of the riverside and harbour but no further persons were found in the river.

Time: 04.49  Location: Peter Hill Court, York

A crew from Acomb responded to a report of a fire in a garden seen from a house further up the road.  On arrival the crews found this to be a wheelie bin and a wheelbarrow of rubbish on fire.  Crews used 1 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.  Police were informed due the the believed deliberate cause of the fire.

A Crew from Scarborough also attended an automatic fire alarm activation.  After inspection this was found to be a false alarm.
