Incident Summary – Night Shift 22nd September

Time: 17.27  Location:  Newthorpe

A crew from Tadcaster responded to a report of smoke seen from a distance.  Crews located the fire and found this to be a controlled burn under supervision.  Advice was given to the occupant.

Time: 19.39  Location:  Westow 

Two crews from Malton responded to a report of a manure heap that had started smoldering near to some outbuildings.  Crews used 1 hose reel jet to dampen down the muck heap and protect the buildings and used shovels to move the muck heap a safe distance away.

Time: 19.50  Location:  Hirst Courtney

Crews from Tadcaster and Selby responded to a report of an unidentified animal (due to the dark) which appeared stuck in the river.  Crews used water rescue equipment and sled to investigate.  A sheep was located and successfully rescued from the river.

Time: 20.27  Location:  Haxby

Crews from York and Haxby responded to a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision with a person trapped in a vehicle.  On arrival this was found to be a single vehicle collision with a sign with no occupants trapped.  The incident was left with Police and Ambulance crews.

Time: 20.30  Location:  Pecket Street, York 

Crews from Acomb and Easingwold responded to a report of the sound of explosions and a smell of burning in a residential property.  This was found to be a faulty gas boiler.  Crews isolated the gas supply and left the incident in the hands of the occupier to contact a gas engineer.

Time: 23.16  Location: A658, Goldsborough

A crew from Knaresborough responded to reports of smoke issuing from trees by the side of the road. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.

Time: 00.44  Location:  Haxby Road, York

A crew from York responded to a report of a bin on fire.  On arrival the crews extinguished 2 large wheeled bins and a further 3 that were found smoldering using 1 hose reel jet.  Police were informed due to the believed deliberate nature of the fires and the incident has been left in the hands of Police.

Time: 06.07  Location: Jenny Fields Drive, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to a report of flooding inside a premises.  Crews used a Light Portable Pump to keep the water levels down until an engineer arrives.  Crews are currently still on scene.

Time: 06.46  Location:  Addingham (West Yorkshire)

Crews from Skipton and Grassington were requested to assist crews from West Yorkshire at an over the border residential fire incident.   This incident is ongoing at time of publication.

Time: 06.48  Location:  Clint, Harrogate

Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough responded to a report of smoke inside a residential property.  This incident is on-going at time of publication.

Crews from Ripon,  Acomb, York and Skipton also attended automatic fire alarm activations.  After inspection these were found to be false alarms.
