Incident Summary – Night Shift 23rd September

Time: 17.30  Location:  Kexby, York

Two crews from Acomb and one from York responded to a report of a fire in a wooded area.  On arrival crews located a fire measuring approximately 50 x 10 metres in the woodland.  Crews used Hose Reel Jets and wildfire tools to extinguish and dampen down the area and a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots.

Time: 18.24  Location: Tower Street, York

A crew from Easingwold responded to a report of a van leaking diesel in a car park.  Crews used Drizzit pads to contain the leak and contacted the driver of the vehicle.  The incident was left in the drivers hands.

Time: 19.38  Location:  Constantine Avenue, Colburn

A crew from Bedale responded to a report of smoke and heat coming from a manhole cover on a pavement.  On arrival crews located a junction box arcing and gassing off.  Crews created a cordon for safety and monitored the temperature using a thermal imaging camera while awaiting the arrival of the electricity board.  The electricity board isolated the junction box and the incident was left in their hands.

Time: 21.04  Location:  Blossom Street, York

A crew from York responded to a report of a person who had become locked into a bathroom due to a failed door mechanism.  Crews used small tools to release the person.

Time: 21.22  Location:  Kildale

A crew from Stokesley responded to a report of a camp fire in a wooded area. Following a search of woodland crew were unable to locate any signs of a fire.

Time: 22:55   Location: York

Crew from Acomb were mobilised to reports of smoke in the area. Crews carried out a search of the local area but were unable to locate any sign of smoke or fire.

Crews from Scarborough and Easingwold (x2) also responded to automatic fire alarm activations.  After inspection these were found to be false alarms.
