Incident Summary – 28th April – Night Shift

18:55 – Water End, York

Acomb’s crew were mobilised to an incident involving multiple people trapped in a room due to a failed locking mechanism. Crews used crew power to gain entry and all people were freed with no injuries.

20:01 – Holly Bank Grove, York

A pump from Acomb responded to a report of a small fire being sighted in the open. The fire was out on the arrival of crews, crews used a knapsack sprayer to dampen down the area.

20:07 – Fulham Lane, Womersley

Selby’s appliance were mobilised to reports of a fire that had been sighted in a wooded area. Crews used two knapsack sprayers, a thermal imaging camera and a fire bucket to extinguish and dampen down.

20:13 – Eastfield Avenue, Norton

Malton’s crew were requested by police to assist paramedics with gaining entry to a property with a casualty inside. On crews arrival, the casualty opened the door themselves. No action taken from fire service, the incident was left with ambulance staff.

20:30 – Haxby Road, York

York’s appliance were mobilised to an incident involving a small fire in a wooded area. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish and the incident was left with a responsible person.

22:30 – Mill Bridge, Skipton

Skipton’s crew were mobilised to an incident at the request of ambulance to assist with gaining entry to a property with a casualty inside. Crews used a game kit and lighting to access. The incident was left with paramedics.

22:37 – Throxenby

One of Scarborough’s crews were mobilised to a campfire that appeared to be out of control. Crews extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet and gave advice to a responsible person.

22:47 – Harrogate Road, Ripon

Ripon’s appliance was mobilised, at the request of police, to assist with a possible vehicle fire. This was found to be a false alarm due to the engine overheating.

Crews from Acomb (x2), Ripon, Harrogate (x2), York and Filey attended automatic fire alarm activations all across the county. These were all found to be false alarms.
